Entraguard User and PIN Enrollment

Entraguard User and PIN Enrollment

1.0 Introduction

To enroll an Entraguard PIN you must also enroll a cardholder. Borealis has an intuitive enrollment
wizard that allows you to enroll the cardholder and then generate the Entraguard PIN as part of the
enrollment process. If cardholders require a standard credential as well as an Entraguard PIN then
the cardholder will have two separate, assigned, enrolled credentials.

Note: There is an additional Entraguard Tenant and User Guide (P/N:01801-002) which provides instructions for using Entraguard PINs, accepting a call from the Entraguard and using the telephone command codes.

The following steps explain how to enroll a new cardholder and then generate a new Entraguard PIN.

Before enrolling the cardholder and Entraguard PIN you should create access rights that include the Entraguard controller. See section 3.0 for creating access rights in Borealis.

2.0 Ensure Entraguard Controllers are Enabled for the Site

Before enrolling Entraguard users you must first ensure the site has Entraguard controllers enabled.

  1. Click on Sites from the main menu.

  2. The Sites screen will appear.
  3. From the sites Action menu on the right select Edit.

  4. Place a check mark in Enable Entraguard Controllers.

  5. Other Entraguard controller options will then be visible. These settings will apply to all Entraguard controllers on this site.

    - Entraguard PIN Digits - This is the number of digits to be used for the Entraguard PIN (the default is 5). The PIN is used by the tenant to gain entry at the Entraguard controller. The '*' digit is pressed on the keypad, followed by the unique user PIN.
    - Entraguard Directory Code - The number of digits for the Directory Code on the Entraguard.
The default is 5. Every tenant that can be called from the Entraguard will need an assigned, unique
directory code. Note: The directory code is used to call a tenant and saves having to scroll the
directory to dial the tenant. It is not used to gain access at the Entraguard.
    - Show Entraguard PINs in live events and reports - When selected, the user's PIN will be
displayed in live events and in reports when access is granted at the Entraguard controller.

    Site Settings

  6. Save the Entraguard site settings.

  7. Select a time schedule to apply to the access rights (to determine when users will be able to gain access). Click Save.

    Apply Schedule

  8. The access rights are now setup and ready to assign to credentials.

4.0 Update the Controller

After adding readers to access rights, the Entraguard controllers will need to be updated.

  1. On the main menu... Hardware >> Controllers, you will see there is an indicator next to
'Controllers'. Hover your cursor over this indicator and you will see that a sync is required.

    Sync Required

  2. Click on Hardware >> Controllers to display all controllers on the system.
  3. You will see the same icon is displayed next to the Entraguard controller.
  4. Click the controller's Action menu (located on the right).
  5. Select Sync from the drop-down list.

    Sync Selected

  6. Click the CONFIRM button to go ahead with the controller sync.
  7. Three moving dots will appear next to the controller name to indicate that the sync is in progress.
  8. When the update in progress indicator disappears the sync will be complete.
  9. There will also be a network complete message in live events.

5.0 Enroll the new Cardholder and Entraguard PIN

  1. From the Borealis main menu click on Cardholders.

    Cardholders

  2. Click the CREATE button.
  3. Enter a first name and a last name for the new cardholder.
  4. Select Never Expire.

Note: Temporary cardholders are not supported on Entraguard controllers.

  5. Scroll down to the Entraguard properties section.
  6. Select the site that the Entraguard controller is added to.
  7. Place a check mark in Name Display Enable - this will display the name of the Entraguard user on the Entraguard's LCD display (it is optional).
  8. The directory name field will display how the user's name will appear on the LCD screen.

  9. Enter a unique directory code for the user.
  10. Enter the user's contact phone number.
  11. Select a dial schedule for the user (this is the time schedule during which a visitor can call a tenant from the Entraguard).
  12. Click SAVE & NEXT.

  13. Set the Credential Type as Entraguard.
  14. Select the site that the Entraguard is added to.
  15. Click the Generate icon to generate a new Entraguard PIN.

Note: All Entraguard PINs must be unique. To avoid the possibility of duplicated PINs it is not
possible to manually enter a custom ID. All Entraguard PINs must be randomly generated by the
    user application.

  16. The user's unique PIN will appear in the record.

  17. Click SAVE & NEXT.
  18. From the drop-down list select the access right to assign to the user.
  19. Click SAVE.

  20. The new Entraguard user record will be added to the system with the assigned access rights.
  21. The Entraguard controller(s), which the user has access to, will be updated automatically. Within a few seconds the user will be able to gain access at the Entraguard controller. To gain access as a user you should press the * key on the Entraguard's keypad followed by the unique Entraguard PIN.
