The following steps explain how to add an NXT-MSC controller to Borealis. It assumes that you have already followed the steps to add an NXT-MSC site to your system. During the steps to claim the hub you will select the site that the hub will be associated with.
Note: The controllers must be added to the same DHCP-enabled and internet-enabled network that the hub is connected to. The NXT-MSC controllers will obtain a DHCP address and the assigned IP address will be displayed when the controller is detected.
From the main menu, click on Hubs.
Your hub will appear in the list.
Locate the Actions drop-down menu on the right, click the down-arrow and select Scan.
The scan function will scan the local network for controllers.
After a few seconds, controllers will appear in the list. IMPORTANT NOTE: When adding NXT-MSC controllers they will be assigned with a DHCP IP address.
Place a check mark against the controllers that you wish to claim.
Enter a name for each of the controllers that you wish to add.
Click the CLAIM button.
At the top of the screen you should see a message stating that the controller(s) has been successfully claimed.
2.0 Configure the Controller With a Static IP Address
Once
the NXT-MSC controller has been added to Borealis you should configure
the controller with a static IP address. This can be done via the
Controller's Internal configuration menu.
Important Note: Before
assigning the controller with a static IP address you should ensure the
IP address you wish to assign is not already assigned to another device
on the network.
From the Borealis main menu, click on Hardware >> Controllers.
Locate the controller that you have added.
Use the controller's Actions menu located on the right side of the screen and select Configure.
The Internal Configuration form will appear.
From the drop-down menu, select Network.
You will see that by default the Network Method is set to DHCP.
Change the Network Method to Static and then enter the static IP address you wish to assign to the controller.
The Subnet Mask and Default Gateway should not be edited.
Click the SAVE button.
Next, click the APPLY CHANGES and Reboot button.
You will see a notification prompting you to confirm the reboot.
Click Yes to proceed.
The controller will reboot and it will momentarily go offline.
Within a few seconds the controller should be back online and the new, static IP address will be displayed.
