Enable Two Factor Authentication (2FA)
1.0 Introduction
Borealis allows you to configure your account to require 2-factor authentication (2FA) when logging into the user interface. Two-factor authentication (2FA) requires you to use the Borealis Connect app to enable 2-factor authentication for your system. Once enabled, you can then select which 2-FA authentication option you wish to use.
2.0 Enable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA)
2.1 Download the Borealis Connect App
- Visit Google Play Store (for Android) or to the App Store (iOS devices).
- Search for 'Borealis Connect '.
- Install the app.
- Open the app.
2.1 Generate the QR code in the Borealis User Interface
Log into the Borealis user interface.
Click on your Borealis e-mail address (in the upper-right corner).
Click Account.
Click the Enable 2FA button.
- You will see a QR code and instructions to scan the QR code using the Borealis Connect app.
2.2 Scan the 2-FA QR Code Using the Connect App
- Open the Borealis Connect app.
- You will see the login screen.
- Log in to the app with your registered username and password.
- You system, or systems will be displayed.
- Click on the small QR code icon in the upper-left corner.
- You will be prompted to scan the QR code from the Borealis client.
- You will see a confirmation that you have successfully unlocked multi-factor authentication for your Borealis account.
3.0 Select your 2-FA Authentication Option
- Return to the Borealis user interface.
- Click your user name in the upper-right corner and select Account.
- Click the 2FA button again.
- You will see 3 authentication options.
- Select the option you wish to use.
- Authenticator App - Use an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator. You will need to generate a code to setup the authentication then each time you log into Borealis you will need to generate a new authentication code.
- Email 2FA - Each time you log into Borealis a login code will be sent to your Borealis e-mail address.
- SMS 2FA - Each time you log into Borealis a login code will be sent to the phone number that you registered on Borealis.
- Click Next.
- You are now required to enter the code that has initially been sent to you for confirmation purposes.
- Click SAVE.
- 2-Factor Authentication is now fully setup and enabled.
4.0 Disable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA)
- Log into the user interface using the 2FA code.
- Click on your Borealis e-mail address (in the upper-right corner).
- Click Account.
- Click the Enable 2FA button.
- Remove the check mark from Enable 2FA.
- Click the UPDATE button.
- You will see a notification at the top of the screen stating 2FA methods are successfully updated.
- Click your e-mail address in the upper-right.
- Select Log-out.
- Log back in to the user interface.
- You will not be required to enter a 2FA code.
