Create a New System

1.0 Introduction

Every Borealis installation will require a ‘System’ to initially be added. The initial system is created and authorized by Keri Systems using the e-mail address of the designated System Owner. The System Owner is the only operator who will have the rights to pay for the hardware subscription and is also the only person who will receive system invoices.

Note: Before creating a Borealis system, Keri Systems strongly recommends that you create an Organization. You should wait for the Organization to be approved before setting up your system. Click here for Organization setup instructions and for information about why you should use an Organization.

What is a System?

A System is a container for everything related to a Borealis access control installation, including:

• Operators - Software users permitted to interact with the System.
• Sites - Logical groupings of physical security assets by geographical location.
• Hardware - Controllers, readers and many other types of electronic security equipment.
• Cardholders - People enrolled into the System with tailored security permissions, granting them access to physical locations with the use of a security credential.
• Credentials - A token assigned to a cardholder, examples include proximity cards and fobs, a PIN or biometric attributes.

Examples of when to create a new System:

• First Time Adding Hardware - All hardware must be part of a System, with a minimum of one site. To add hardware, such as hubs, controllers and peripherals, connect to an existing System or create a new System here.
• New Dealer System - Security dealers providing a managed service for their clients should create a new System for each client.

2.0 System Setup 

Every Borealis installation will require a 'system' to be added. The system is created by the operator who will then become the system owner and the system owner will have full administration rights. If you log in and there is no system, you will see the Create System form.

 

To create a new Borealis system:

1. Go to keri.aetheros.net
   
2. Log into Borealis with your registered e-mail address and password.
   
3. The Create System screen will appear.
   
4. Enter a name for your new system.
   
5. Select an industry type for your business.
   
6. Select your organization (which should now have been approved).
   
7. Select the price list that appears in the drop-down list.
   
8. Click the submit button to create the new system.
   
   
   

Note: When a new system has been created it will be in a setup period. Currently the setup period is for 30 days and during this time you will have full functionality. Once hardware has been added the subscription must be paid for within the setup period, if not, after 30 days the system will become suspended.

Once your system is created, you will then see the home screen.
